Mansa Sugar to be officially launched

Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa says President Edgar Lungu is in the first quarter of 2019 officially launch the Mansa Sugar Company.
The Provincial Minister has also disclosed that Mansa Sugar has so far created 1, 500 jobs right in Chembe District.
The company started production at its US$60 million factory in September with the aim of increasing Zambia’s foreign exchange earnings.
Mr. Chilangwa says the Sugar crushing plant is now set and that trial milling will commence this year.
He is pleased that Mansa Sugar packets will hit the shelves of Zambian market.
“It is expected that once all our anchor projects are fully operational, the economy of the Province and the country will improve tremendously. Since hosting the Luapula Expo and Investment Conference, efforts have been put in place by the Provincial Administration to ensure spiral effects from these companies bring about community empowerment,” he said.
Mr. Chilangwa says government is promoting out-grower schemes for agricultural related investments and royal trusts for other forms of investments.
He states that the Province in liaison with local communities is in the processing of ensuring sustainable Social Corporate Responsibility Packages are put in place by the companies.
