Lusaka Mayor Miles Sampa has today launched the trial of the free WiFi project he had promised Lusaka residents during the campaign period.
Mr. Sampa has disclosed that the WiFi has been installed at the Lusaka City Council (LCC) on a three month basis trial.
The Mayor has disclosed that the council is engaging internet service providers who wish to provide the free WiFi to the residents of Lusaka.
He says the tender will be advertised after the trial period upon which companies will be selected to partner with the local authority to manage the project.
Mr. Sampa has also disclosed that the free WiFi will be installed in Markets such as City Market and Kabwata Market and not forgetting bus stations.
The move comes as a fulfillment of the campaign promise he made to provide free WiFi to the Lusaka residents within the first one hundred days in office.
Mr. Sampa has announced that he has 90 more days as today is only his tenth day since he was elected as Lusaka Mayor.
