Minister of Works and Supply has called for adherence to stipulated health guidelines in the fight against the second wave of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Speaking when she led the staff by taking the test at the Ministry headquarters Sylvia Chalikosa said there is no need for anyone to hide or stay away from knowing their Covid-19 status seeing it enables them to stay safe.
Ms. Chalikosa revealed the need for taking up the test for members of staff was necessitated by the fact that there have been four cases at the Ministry one of which resulted in death.
“When the first wave of the pandemic was reported in March 2020, the Ministry has been undertaking several health measures such as the provision hand wash facilities, masks, hand sanitizers as well as fumigation of the work place,” she said.
Ms. Chalikosa further noted the Ministry premises on Wednesday 6th 2021 was temporarily closed so as to enable the health team fumigate all the office premises.
According to a statement issued by Ministry of Works and Supply Public Relations Officer Ndubi Mbvula, it was expected that over 450 members of staff will have undergone the testing by 7th January 2020.
