MQHZ hails procurement of health centre kits

• Health Center kits are an effective solution to healthcare challenges.
• They provide a guaranteed package of key essential medicines in the right quantities.
• Stakeholders expect to see pooled procurement and harmonized medicine management systems going forward.

Medical for Quality Healthcare in Zambia (MQHZ) says the first consignment of health Centre kits recently procured by government will go a long way in achieving universal health coverage.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Organization Director General Dr. Quince Mwabu states that Health Center kits are an effective solution to healthcare challenges because they provide a guaranteed package of key essential medicines in the right quantities and at the right time for most people, especially in rural areas.
Dr. Mwabu said stakeholders expect to see pooled procurement and harmonized medicine management systems as well as improved supplier performance going forward.
He however commended Zambia Medicines and Medical Supply Agency (ZAMMSA) for delivering the first consignment of the health Centre kits in the country.
“We must admit that it has been a long and tedious effort. However, we commend the contributions of the ZAMMSA team for delivering the first consignment of the health Centre kits in the country.”
“We believe that the kits will be put to good use and ensure all provinces benefit. We are confident that this first consignment of health center kits will make a real, socially desirable impact on the health of the Zambian people. The health kits will, indeed, go a long way in achieving universal health coverage,” Dr. Mwabu said.
Ministry of Health through ZAMMSA has procured Health Center Kits worth US$28 million in order to address the current stock imbalances in the public health supply chain.

According to ZAMMSA Board Chairperson, Dr. Anna Chifungula, the first 7000 Health Center Kits out of 42, 000 procured from Mission Pharma of India will arrive in the country by mid-June 2023.

The first consigned containing 50 Health Center Kits arrived in the country on Monday, 22nd May, 2023.
