The Ndola City Council has commenced road marking works in the city following the funding the council received from National Road Fund Agency.
The Road marking which started with Kwacha road has been marked from the hospital roundabout to the turn-off onto Chifubu road.
Road markings have also commenced on independence road.
The Ndola City Council through the department of engineering states that the markings which are being done will not easily be washed away and are forecast to last at least two to three years.
Ndola City Council Public Relations Manager Tilyenji Mwanza says from the same funding the Ndola City Council has commenced pothole patching in the city, with priority given to the roads spurring from the tolled roads leading into the city.
Ms Mwanza adds that onto the K200, 000 that the Ndola City Council received from NRFA the Local Authority will be spending an extra K100, 000 from the capital component to go to the pot-hole patching exercise as well as the creation of speed humps on newly constructed roads.
She has also announced that the council has completed most works on the under bridge along Dag Hammersjoeld drive and tomorrow the painters will be marking the bridge and it will be ready for use before mid-November.
And Council Director Engineering Patrick Simuchimba told Council that the carriageway has been designed to be in rigid form in terms of the top surface, with absorptivity mechanics at the base of the rigid pavement to allow for easy collection of underground water into the main drain, draining into the Kafubu River.
Additionally a walkway has been designed on both sides of the bridge after the guard rails to carter for pedestrians and cyclists.
