The year on year inflation Rate for the month of November 2018 has decreased to 7.8 % from 8.3 % recorded in October 2018.
Central Statistical Office acting Director for Census and Statistics Goodson Sinyenga has attributed the decrease to the purchase of vehicles and passenger transport by air.
Mr. Sinyenga however says the Month on Month inflation rate for November has increased to 0.9 percent from 0.7 % recorded in October 2018.
He has attributed the increase to price changes of food commodities including Breakfast Millie meal, roller meal, meat, live Chicken, Dried Kapenta and Dried Bream.
Mr. Sinyenga said this in his presentation of the CSO monthly Bulletin in Lusaka Today.
He has indicated that the month on month food inflation rate for the month under review has increased to 1.0 percent from 0.3 percent recorded in October 2018, mainly due to price changes in the price changes of the named food stuffs.
He has added that the Month on Month Non Food inflation rate has decreased to 0.8% from 1.2% in the previous month, mainly because of price changes in the purchase of vehicles and passenger Transport by air.
“Lusaka Province contributed the highest to the overall annual inflation Rate with a contribution of 2.6 percentage points followed by Copperbelt Province with a contribution of 1.5 percentage points while North Western Province had the lowest provincial Contribution of 0.2 percentage points,” he told journalists.
