NRFA allocates Toll technicians

The National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) has allocated technicians in toll plazas across the country to efficiently handle any breakdowns in the systems.
NRFA Public Relations Manager Alphonsius Hamachila says there have been a few challenges experienced in the toll gates on selected occasions.
Mr. Hamachila says in an interview with Money FM News that the organization however has no system to track how much money is lost when they allow free passage of vehicles due to system challenges.
According to a statement, the Agency had experienced a downtime in toll operations at the Michael Chilufya Sata Toll Plaza on the Ndola – Kitwe Road on Saturday which lasted for 13 minutes causing localized traffic congestion.
Mr. Hamachila said the cause of the downtime was a system glitch between the servers and the lane computers in the toll booths.
He said that during the intermittent operation challenge, free passage was granted to all motorists to allow for flow of traffic , reduce congestion and mitigate the inconvenience to all those who were using the road at the time.
The Public relations Manager noted that “Toll operations on the back up system have been slower than normal and the Agency is urging all motorists to exercise patience during the intervening period”.
