• The fund collected K547 millions of tolls fees in the first quarter.

National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) says it collected K547 millions of tolls fees in the first quarter of 2021 against the projected target of K425 Million, representing the collection performance of 129 percent.
Agency Public Relations Manager Alphonsus Hamachilla disclosed to Money FM News in an exclusive interview that out of the collections, K65 million was collected using cashless payment system, representing 26 percent of the total collection.
Mr. Hamachila stated that the tolling operations are taking place at 27 inland toll stations and 10 ports of entry across the country.
He thanked all members of the public for supporting the road tolling programme as it helps in ensuring that the public roads are well maintained.
“For 2020, NRFA projected to raise a total of K1.7 Billion. The Money that is collected, is used for developing infrastructure and maintaining public roads so that the country’s infrastructure looks clean and attractive,” Mr. Hamachila explained.
Mr. Hamachila added that the agency is a lead tolls agent in collecting of tolls and general management of road tolling which is in line with mobilization responsibility that the agency has.
“The Agency will sign a memorandum of understanding with Mobile Service Providers and Banks to provide Customers the convenient way of loading value on the electronic toll cards”, He said.
