RDA to confirm Mwami One Stop Border Post consultant resignation

The Road Development Agency says it is yet to confirm reports that a German contractor working on the Mwami One Stop Border Post between Zambia and Malawi has resigned citing high corruption levels.
Architecture & Project Management Resident Engineer for the OSBP project Holger Kotthaus says in a letter reportedly to his client, Smec international, that the entire infrastructure of Zambia and Malawi would collapse and three-quarters of these employees would be jobless without this foreign support.
According to the letter, the client abandoned their consultant, and left them in the hands of the contractor to be exploited.
It adds that “here you have long lost the connection not only to International Standard, but even to the rest of the African level.”
RDA public relations Manager Masuzyo Ndlovu says he has received the reports but is consulting the necessary department to establish the authenticity of the reports.
The African Development Bank (AfDB) has provided US 7.5 million dollars for the construction of a one-stop border facility at Mwami/Mchinji Border in Chipata as part of the Nacala Corridor development project.
The Mwami/Mchinji one stop border facility will be built under phase four of the Nacala Corridor development project.
