Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) says the first quarter of 2021 showed a recovery from load shedding in the manufacturing sector compared to last year.
Association President Ezekiel Sekele explained to Money FM News in an interview that 2020 saw a contraction in the economy and the sector as a result of the impact of load-shedding.
Mr. Sekele is of the view that with the revamp in the energy sector and the Kariba Dam having registered some positive improvement compared to last year, “and as we see it now load shedding is a matter of the past.”
“The government working together with ZESCO have done some commendable work in that area,” he said.
Mr. Sekele noted that energy is a priority for manufacturers adding that it has gone a long way in giving a push to the sector.
