The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has reminded all motorists and fleet owners who received the infringement notices to settle the fines within the stipulated payment period to avoid further action.

During the media briefing hosted by the Road Transport and Safety Agency on August 20, 2018 on the Implementation Status of the Road Management System, the Agency indicated that all speed fines must be paid within 30 days from the date of infringement.

In a notice issued by the RTSA Public Relations Unit, the agency says this is in accordance with Section 148 (4)(b) as read with section 225 of the Road Traffic Act No. 11 of 2002.

The notice reads that all vehicle owners with overdue payments should expect commencement of prosecution which will involve summons to appear before the fast track court.

The other action for vehicle owners with overdue payments, their vehicles will be blocked on e-ZamTIS.

“This means that both vehicle inspection and vehicle licensing will not be done; and vehicles will be placed on a list of Vehicles of Special Interest and subjected to random roadside inspections,” the notice read in part.

RTSA has further advised motorists that details that should be included on the bank deposit slip include 16-digit Offence Reference Number in the SMS from RTSA Notice; and vehicle Registration Number Motorists and fleet owners in receipt of an infringement notice.
