• Intercity long distance routes have been reduced by 2 percent.

Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has reduced bus fares for September 2022, following the recent drop in fuel pump prices announced by Energy Regulation Board (ERB).

In a statement, Agency Head of Public Relations Frederick Mubanga said intercity long distance routes have been reduced by 2 percent, while Copperbelt local and other towns remain unchanged.

Mr. Mubanga explained that fares for Lusaka local routes and other towns have attracted a downward adjustment of K1, including Inter-Mine and Peri-urban routes for Copperbelt.

He added that the new fares which are effective today 8th September 2022, were arrived at in consultation with stakeholders in the transport sector.

“The fares were arrived at in consultation with the Bus and Taxi Owners Association of Zambia (BTOAZ), the Commuter Rights Association of Zambia (CRAZ) and the Public Passenger Transport Drivers Association of Zambia (PPTDAZ),” Mr. Mubanga said.

On Wednesday last week, ERB reduced fuel pump prices by K1.65 per litre for petrol and K1.74 per litre for diesel effective 1st September, 2022.
