Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry says it will continue to create an enabling environment for Small and Medium Scale entrepreneurs (SME’s) to thrive in the country.
Speaking at the official launch of the impact Capital Africa, Ministry permanent Secretary Kayula Siame said small and medium scale enterprises play a vital role in ensuring inclusive sustainable economic growth.
Ms Kayula said Impact Capital Africa is a unique initiative dedicated to supporting the development of local investors by linking them to investors that deliver high quality impactful investments.
The Permanente Secretary noted that vibrant and productive private sector is key to promoting economic growth and prosperity.
She said it is for this reason that the government has put in place the vision 2030 and the Seventh National Development P(7NDP) to guide business developments through economic diversification.
“These policy documentations are complemented by sector policies such as the National industrial policy, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Development policy, National Trade policy, Investment Promotion Strategy, Local content strategy and the National Export strategy”, She said.
Ms Kayula she added that government has also placed increased emphasis on promoting value addition and chain development in order to promote the growth of local enterprises by incorporating them into the economy.
And Speaking at the same event Impact Capital Africa Founder Emma Parker says throughout history sustainable job creation growth has played the greatest role in lifting huge numbers of people out of poverty.
