Teachers lament lack of payment

• Teachers recently deployed have not been paid
• PROTUZ is investigating the matter
• Some teachers are being under paid

Professional Teachers’ Union of Zambia (PROTUZ) says it is investigating reports indicating that teachers who were recently deployed have not been paid for the month of December.
PROTUZ Director Public Relations and International Affairs Brian Mwila told Money FM News that the Union has received numerous reports from teachers who were recently deployed complaining that some of them have not been paid from the time they were recruited.
“I can confirm that the union has received numerous calls from affected teachers who have not been paid this December, we would like to assure the teachers that we are interrogating the matter with payroll Management Establishment Control (PMEC),” he said
Mr. Mwila said it has also come to the Union’s knowledge that some teachers are being under paid, while others have not been given their pay slips in time to establish where the money would have gone.
He has since advised the affected teachers to find time to visit the District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) offices and make an inquiry on the issue while the union is trying to find a solution.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mwila has urged teachers to celebrate the festive season responsibly by not exposing themselves to covid-19 pandemic which has resurfaced with a bang.
