The Copper Queens demolish Mauritius 15-0 in opening COSAFA Group B match

Zambia National Women’s Soccer Team has beaten islanders Mauritius 15-0 in their opening Group B encounter played at the Wolfson Stadium in Port Elizabeth this afternoon.
Mauritius who have not participated in the last edition conceded seven goals in the first half which was largely dominated by Zambia.
Green Buffaloes striker Rachel Nachula scored eight goals and assisted five more goals and earned herself the woman of the match.
In a post-match interview Zambian Coach Beauty Mwamba says it was the kind of performance that he was expecting and that her team will prepare adequately for their next match against Namibia.
Yesterday, South Africa made history with a 17-0 drubbing of the Comoros Islands as they opened their 2019 COSAFA Women’s Championship Group A campaign in fine style at the Wolfson Stadium in Nelson Mandela Bay.
There were also victories for Zimbabwe and Malawi as the competition got under way in front of an enthusiastic crowd, who were treated to plenty of action on day one.
The victory is not only the biggest ever in the COSAFA Women’s Championship, beating the 15-0 victory for Zimbabwe over Lesotho in 2002, but is also South Africa’s largest ever win in their history.
Council of Southern Africa Football Associations, officially abbreviated as COSAFA, is an association of the football playing nations in Southern Africa. It is affiliated to CAF.
COSAFA organise several tournaments in the Southern African region, and its most renowned tournament is the COSAFA Cup.
