Uphold professional ethics, auditors urged

• Institute of Internal Auditors Zambia urges auditors to follow ethics in order to preserve institutional integrity.

Institute of Internal Auditors Zambia has urged auditors to uphold professional ethics in order to preserve the integrity of their institutions.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Institute Administrative Officer, Nyambe Mayeya said auditors who follow laid down standards and remain accountable to institutional processes will add value and promote a better working environment.
‘‘ The most important thing for auditors are ethics .If internal auditors are able to follow the standards that help them to do their work better, then they will really add value to the institutions as the integrity of the institutions depends on their conduct,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Mayeya said the Institute of Internal Auditors Zambia is confident that the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Pricewaterhouse Coopers Zambia (PWC Zambia) and the Office of the Auditor general will enhance control processes in government institutions.
‘‘The step taken by the Auditor General’s office is in the right direction because this will help strengthen institutions in terms of audit and control processes,’’ he stated.
He also noted that the technical assistance provided by PWC Zambia will improve governance issues in ministries.
