The Ministry Tourism and Arts has warned of changing the staff managing Munda Wanga if operations do not improve in the third quarter of 2019.
Speaking during an impromptu visit to the sanctuary and botanic garden, Minister in Charge Ronald Chitotela is concerned that there has been no improvement to the facility despite assurances from Munda Wanga management.
“’There has been no improvement despite the concerns expressed by President Edgar Lungu’s when he visited the facility earlier this year. My predecessor, Dr. Charles Banda also visited the park and expressed concerns too” he said.
Mr. Chitotela expects transformation at Munda Wanga so that the facility can begin to generate income for the treasury adding that management at the park should not be tying development to funding from government.
“Munda Wanga Sanctuary and Botanic Gardens has been well known as a home for ambassador wildlife species and rehabilitation centre for injured animals or those recovered from pet traders” said Mr. Chitotela.
The Minister recalls that the greenery at the botanic garden provided beautiful retreats for people wanting secluded environment especially during weekends.
