Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry Permanent Secretary, Kayula Siame says Zambia and India will continue to cement relations by increasing trade and investment.
She said this during her welcoming remarks when the Indian delegation paid a courtesy call on her office led by the High Commissioner to India, Judith Kapijimpanga.
Mrs. Siame says Zambia is looking forward to adding value to local products through the Zambia – India partnership and that Government will ensure the investments becomes a reality.
“I note that you have mentioned the number of projects which you intend to do in Zambia are in line with our priority focusing on industrialization and value addition,” she said.
And High Commissioner to India, Judith Kapijimpanga who accompanied the delegation disclosed that the investors are willing to invest in the area of health, mining, agriculture and water and sanitation sectors respectively.
“I have come with investors who want to put up some milling plants and also would like to have 10,000 hectares of land for Agriculture adding that in the health sector, investors are willing to put up equipment’s in various clinics,” Mrs. Kapijimpanga explained.
She noted that another group of would be investors in the laying of irrigation pumps for the resettlement farms apart of the already existing investor who has set up a ginnery for cotton production at Mwembeshi which is intended to be commissioned in June.
The High Commissioner is optimistic that these 15 man delegation will create employment opportunities for both the skilled and semi-skilled targeting youths and women.
