Preps for CB Expo intensifies

The Copperbelt Provincial Administration has confirmed that preparations for the Expo, slated for June this year are going well and fundraising programs are underway to this effect.
Provincial Minister Japhen Mwakalombe has told Money FM News that they have so far raised more than K3 million out of a total budget of US$1 million.
Mr. Mwakalombe says the event will focus less on foreign direct investments (FDI) and more on empowering local business people to ensure that the funds are retained in the country and create more employment.
The Provincial Minister says they will be profiling districts in the province based on their comparative advantage.
He adds that the government is encouraging Members of Parliament, Mayors, District Commissioners and the private sector to champion the agenda in order for no one to be left behind.
He has thanked the business houses in the province for responding positively to the support that was requested for by the administration.
Mr. Mwakalombe has reiterated that the administration is in full swing and is aiming to diversify the economy to agriculture, forestry, tourism and from heavy mining to light mining.
