• Cumulative Covid-19 related deaths recorded to date stands at 1, 002.
• 962 patients have been discharged, bringing total recoveries to 66, 013.

Zambia has crossed the 1, 000 mark for Covid-19 deaths, after the country recorded 11 new deaths in the last 24 hours, to bring the death toll to 1, 002.
According to Health Minister Dr. Jonas Chanda, 532 deaths have been classified as Covid-19 mortalities while 470 are Covid related deaths.
Dr. Chanda disclosed that that the country recorded 736 new Covid-19 cases out of 4, 433 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 73, 203, representing 17% positivity rate.
“The cases by Province were reported from; 270 Lusaka, 118 Copperbelt, 82 North-western, 75 Eastern, 68 Northern, 52 Muchinga, 34 Southern, 23 Luapula, 11 Western, and 3 Central.”
“On a sad note, we have recorded 11 new deaths from Lusaka 3, Copperbelt 2, Muchinga 2, Central 1, Eastern 1, Northern 1, and Northwestern 1. The cumulative Covid-19 related deaths recorded to date now stands at 1, 002. We have crossed the 1, 000 mark for deaths recorded,” Dr. Chanda said.
He said 962 people have been discharged from various isolation centres, while the total number of recoveries now stands at 66, 013.
Dr. Chanda further revealed that the country currently has 6, 188 active cases out of which 304 are hospitalized while 5, 884 are under community management.
