Minister of Transport and Logistics says the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) that has been signed between Zambia and the State of Qatar will enhance and facilitate flights between the two countries to promote the movement of passengers and cargo.
Speaking during the signing of the MoU, Frank Tayali said Government is optimistic that more and better services from Qatar will be introduced in Zambia to boost the country’s economy.
Mr. Tayali requested for Qatar’s support through investing in an Aviation School in Zambia that will have a global reach to cater for the African, Indian, Chinese and Asian market at large for the supply of the new generation of aviation professionals.
“I am particularly interested in the Aviation Training Centers which we can leverage on as a country. In this regard, we are requesting that you support us in the short term to train our people in the aviation sector. In the long run, we would appreciate if Qatar could invest in an Aviation School in Zambia that will have a global reach to cater for the African, Indian, Chinese and Asian market at large for the supply of the new generation of aviation professionals,” Mr. Tayali said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Tayali appealed to Qatar to make Zambia its source market for fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, coffee, meat and various other products as well as join the country in aggressively marketing its tourist attractions and destinations using Qatar Airlines.
He also extended an invitation to the people of Qatar to visit and explore its rich tourist attractions and enjoy the warmth and hospitality of the Zambian people.
“Zambia is endowed with a lot of other natural resources and is home to one of the World’s natural wonders, the Mighty Victoria Falls and has about 40% of fresh water sources in central and southern Africa which tourists must enjoy to see,” he added.
