Zambia to meet Kazungula Bridge financial obligations.

The Ministry of Finance says Zambia will not have a challenge to pay US$1.3 million for Kazungula Bridge come mid-September 2019.
Speaking when he toured the bridge, Minister in Charge Dr. Ng’andu says government does not owe any contractor payments for the Kazungula Bridge project.
Meanwhile, National Road Fund Agency Chief Executive Officer Wallace Mumba adds that the Agency has put in place mechanisms to ensure timely payments of Zambia’s financial obligations on Kazungula Bridge.
Mr. Mumba further notes that the bridge will complement objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.
In August 2007 the governments of Zambia and Botswana signed deal to construct a bridge to replace the existing ferry.
Construction of the US$259.3 million project, which includes international border facilities in Zambia and Botswana began on 12 October 2014 and was due to be completed by 2020.
The bridge is being financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the African Development Bank.
