Health Minister says Zambia has trained two hundred and fifty-nine rapid response workers in an effort to focus on Ebola and public health security.
Speaking to the media in Lusaka Dr Chitalu Chilufya says the country has also trained advanced health workers in Ebola response.
Dr Chilufya says the Ministry of health has also heightened surveillance in all entry ports in the country by putting up cameras and machines that can detect temperature in an effort to protect members of the public from various epidemics.
The World Health Organisation -WHO has placed Zambia among countries at risk of contracting the Ebola disease outbreak.
WHO Country Representative Nathan Bakyaita says there is need for the country to be on high alert.
This is due to Zambia’s porous borders shared with countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo -DRC- that has recorded cases of Ebola. disease.
Dr. Bakyaita says this is why the WHO has partnered with Zambia to help prevent any eventuality.
