ZAMBIA High Commission in India has hosted 50 Indian youths for a Country Brief under India’s Confederation of Young Leaders (CYL) Ambassador Series.
Speaking at the event, Ms Judith Kapijipanga urged Indian youths to convince their parents to invest in Zambia.
She said the Mission in first half of the year 2019, recorded US100m from three companies that started operations among them Prasad Seeds, Vagmi Cottons and OM Rollers while total investment from India was now US$8n.
“Tourism figures rose when 560 Indians visited Zambia for tourism purposes and ordinary visits in the year 2018,” she added.
The High Commissioner said an EXIM Bank of India Line of Credit further saw Zambia construct 650 prefabricated health posts through the Ministry of Health for primary healthcare.
“I also urge you the youths, as custodians of ICTs in India, to partner with young Zambians entrepreneurs,” Mrs. Kapijipanga said.
The High Commissioner said Zambia was an icon of peace, democracy and would maintain cordial relations with likeminded countries without discrimination.
“The key focus of Zambia’s new Foreign Policy is economic diplomacy for the renaissance of Zambia’s economy through tapping into the population dividends of youths, the custodians of ICTs,” Mrs. Kapijimpanga said.
She said India’s President, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, had a three-day State Visit to Zambia in 2018 and a reciprocal visit was expected by President Edgar Lungu, later this year.
And Confederation of Young Leaders (CYL) Ambassador Series Chairman Mr. Hamadrish Suwan praised the 2006 revised Zambia National Youth Policy launched in 2015 under the theme; Towards a Skilled, Enlightened, Economically Empowered and Patriotic Youth Impacting Positively on National Development.
