Zambia’s COVID-19 cases rise to 36.

Minister of Health says the country has recorded one more case of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of positive cases to 36.
Dr Chitalu Chilufya said the recent patient who is a 65-year-old man has a history of travel to Pakistan and he travelled back to Zambia on 24th March.
Dr Chilufya disclosed that there are still 65 suspects that the ministry is running tests for adding that 542 tests have so far been conducted out of which 36 are positive.
“Zambia has recorded thirty-six cases that means that from yesterday’s update where we were at 35 cases, in the last 24 hours we have identified another case of Covid19,” Dr Chilufya said.
The Health Minister also said 4, 429 travellers and contacts have been monitored out of whom 974 have completed the 14-day quarantine and have been discharged.
He further disclosed that the Isolation facilities have 36 cases, two on the Copperbelt and 34 in the Lusaka.
“We have been through our surveillance system monitoring the people that come into the country and we have monitored 4, 429 travellers and contacts. The number of people at high risk who have completed 14 days of observation is now at 974,” he stated.
Dr Chilufya was speaking when he updated Vice President Inonge Wina on the COVID-19 situation through a video conference meeting today.
