The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with HIVOS, a Dutch development organisation, to support and strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem around sustainable entrepreneurs in Zambia.
The two institutions have agreed to among other aspects, develop a concept note for an empowerment entrepreneurship ecosystem in Zambia.
“Both parties will be conducting combined training and events to amplify common outputs and collectively offer coaching, mentoring, technical assistance and tailored support for Zambian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs),” said ZDA Director General Perry Mapani.
The duo will also engage in developing and implementing marketing campaigns and training modules to amplify cater to the needs of entrepreneurs in Zambia.
In addition, the partnership will focus on creating awareness among financial institutions around MSME banking, investor match-making, blended finance and investor information exchange including lobbying and advocacy activities at government level for enabling policies for MSMEs.
Meanwhile, the Director General Mr. Mapani, has disclosed that the Agency has lined up a number of activities and interventions aimed at building the capacity of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
He said, the Agency will be hosting business clinics for the SMEs’ in various provincial centers during the Expos throughout the year from July to September on the Copperbelt, Lusaka, Eastern and Southern Provinces, respectively.
ZDA will also host business formalisation and capacity building activities on how to prepare competitive bids, business plan preparation trainings and financial management trainings among others from March to December, around the country.
The Zambia Development Agency is among other things mandated to promote investments, employment creation and economic growth through supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
