ZDA pledges to promote non-traditional exports

Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) says it is focusing on promoting non-traditional exports around the Eight neighboring countries, including South Africa to foster growth of 60 export growth oriented business enterprises per annum.
Newly appointed Agency Director General Mukula Makasa said the Agency is also looking forward to graduating 100 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) into major Enterprises per annum by fostering business linkages using Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and other domestic large enterprises.
Mr. Makasa stated that ZDA will further facilitate trade and market access in order to expand Zambia’s market access to Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) and Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
“I hope to contribute to the expansion of the following sectors which include MSME growth. We hope to graduate 100 medium Enterprises into major Enterprises per annum by fostering business linkages using Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and other domestic large enterprises.”
“We will also facilitate trade and market access to deepen our country’s market access to SADC and COMESA which is a Free Tripartite Area and also the trending Africa Continental Free Trade Area, including the European Union and African growth opportunity at the market,” Mr. Makasa stated.
And Mr. Makasa said the Agency is working towards promoting reinvestment in a bid to stimulate expansion of existing investment ventures by USD500 million dollars per annum.
“We will also promote reinvestment in order to galvanize expansion of existing investment ventures by USD500 million per annum, we will also promote investment to attract Foreign Direct Investment amounting USD1 billion per annum, from priority sectors including Agriculture, Manufacturing, Energy, Tourism and Infrastructure,” he said.
