ZICA pays tribute to MOF for releasing financial report

Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) says accurate and transparent financial reporting plays a crucial role in ensuring good governance and sustainable economic growth.
Institute President Cecilia Zimba commended Ministry of Finance for its continued commitment to statutory compliance by releasing the Annual Financial Report in accordance with the law.
Ms. Zimba said the Ministry has exceptionally displayed efficiency, accountability, and transparency in its financial reporting, adding that it is through such actions that Zambia can further its economic progress and build a foundation for a prosperous future.
“ZICA extends its commendations to the Ministry of Finance and National Planning for its continued commitment to statutory compliance by releasing the Annual Financial Report in line with Part XVI, Article 211 of the Constitution of Zambia Amendment No. 2 of 2016.”
“ZICA recognizes the important role that accurate and transparent financial reporting plays in ensuring good governance and sustainable economic growth. The Ministry of Finance and National Planning has continued to exemplify these principles by promptly adhering to statutory obligations and providing comprehensive financial information to the public,” Ms. Zimba observed.
She stated that the Ministry has demonstrated its dedication to upholding financial integrity and reinforcing the trust of stakeholders, including citizens, investors, and international partners.
“This commitment sets a high standard for other government institutions and organizations in the country. It is through such actions that Zambia can further its economic progress and build a foundation for a prosperous future.
On Monday, Ministry of Finance released its financial report for the year ended 31st December 2022, outlining the performance of various economic sectors.
According to the financial report, the insurance industry grew by 18.3 % to K12.82 billion as at end-December 2022 from K10.84 billion as at end-December 2021, mainly due to increased investments in Government bonds and listed equities during the year under review.
