ZRA destroys smuggled chicken pieces worthy K260, 000 in taxes

Zambia Revenue Authority has today destroyed the Chickens pieces that were intercepted worth K260, 000 in taxes.
Early this month, the Authority intercepted a truck loaded with smuggled chicken pieces at Katima Mulilo border in Sesheke, Western Province.
ZRA Corporate Communications Manager Topsy Sikalinda tells Money FM News that the authority has destroyed the chicken meat because it was an attempted smuggling case of false declaration and forgery contrary to section 141 Cap 322 of the Customs and Excise Act.
Mr. Sikalinda says this should serve as a lesson to all smugglers who are in the habit of evading taxes that paying taxes is cheaper than smuggling.
“The Authority wishes to call upon all members of the public to report anyone whom they know may be involved in tax evasion and we promise the reporters’ confidentiality will be protected,” he said.
