ZRA spends K1m to procure new uniform

The Zambia Revenue says over K1 million has been spent to purchase about 900 uniforms that will be used by its anti-smuggling squad.
Speaking at the lunch of the uniforms in Lusaka, ZRA Commissioner General Kinsley Chanda says that smuggling is a serious security threat as it leads to loss of revenue.
Mr. Chanda says in 2018 the authority made significant progress in curbing smuggling.
He says the enforcement operations conducted in 2018 resulted in 6,241 interceptions with a value of 2.8 billion.
He adds that the authority managed to seize 81 consignment valued at K50.6 million last year.
Mr. Chanda says the authority also made 990 detections with a value of K225.2 million.
And ZRA Commissioner for Customers says Sydney Chibbabbuka says the introduction of the new uniforms will make it easy for officers in bushy areas to operate, adding the white and blue uniform has been posing as a challenge to some anti-smuggling squad officers.
