The Zambia Youths in fight against Corruption is pleased that the administrative inquiry instituted by President Edgar Lungu in the alleged abuse of donor funds has yielded fruits.
Vice President Inonge Wina told Parliament that a special committee that was set up to look into the social cash transfer irregularities sat for 17 days at which 56 officers among them two Permanent Secretaries, six directors and eight former directors were interviewed.
The Vice President also indicated that some officials have been suspended in order to pave way for invitations.
ZYAFAC Executive Director Maurice Malambo says his organisation is also pleased that the law enforcement agencies are doing a brilliant job in bringing culprits to book.
Mr. Malambo has since proposed that professional bodies such as ZICA for Accountants and other bodies should bar those found wanting from practicing as professionals.
“This will send a strong signal to would be offenders thereby reducing the cases of misuse of both public and donor funds,” he said.
Mr. Malambo says these measures taken by the government will surely restore donor confidence in the Zambian Government.
