ABSA Bank unveils new branch

ABSA Bank Zambia has unveiled its new East Park Mall Branch in Lusaka
Officiating at the Launch, Bank of Zambia (BOZ) Governor said the continued role that ABSA Bank Zambia plays in the market and contribution to the growing economy amid Covid-19 pandemic is a clear demonstration that the Bank remains committed to be operating in Zambia.
BOZ Governor Christopher Mvunga noted the Bank has shown commitment to continue opening new doors to the public even during the corona virus pandemic since the launch of its Brand on the Zambian Markets.
Mr. Mvunga further welcomed Absa Banks’ dedication to consistently provide financial services while adhering to Covid-19 health protocols saying it represents what the entire financial sector stands for.
“A safe environment for people to transact at any given time,” he said.
He noted the need to utilize electronic transactions to avoid the spread of the pandemic.
“One of the things we are mindful of about is cash being a hazard to Covid-19,” the Governor said.
Speaking earlier, ABSA Bank Zambia Managing Director Mzinga Melu upon congratulating the Governor for his appoint said the Bank commits to supporting him and ensure to take the country to another level.
Mrs Melu noted that the Bank has embraced technology in upgrading its platform to run a digitally lead Bank.
“You know, at the time we were looking at four main pillars, the first one was technology, we needed to make sure that we upgrade all our platforms,” she said.
She further expressed gratitude to the media for their continued support.
“And I must say the members of the press and the media, you guys have been extremely supportive, we have been able to tell our story because you have walked the journey with us,” Mrs Melu said.
