Book authoring organization bemoans lack of sponsorship

• There is lack of corporate sponsorship for book authors in the country.
• The local literature curriculum still uses foreign books for educational purposes.
• Encouraging authors to market their pieces of work even before corporate sponsorship comes through.

A local book authoring and advertising organization has bemoaned the lack of support and funding that local book authors and writers have received in the country.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM, Authorship and Career Network (ACN) Co-founder and Director Shadrek Thewo says authors write and publish good books but will not have support from the corporate world for proper sponsorship.
“The Zambian literature curriculum still uses Nigerian books for educational purposes while there are Zambian authors who have written even better literature books,” Thewo said.
He said writers need to invest in their marketing strategy which will help them get exposed and embrace various business ideologies which will empower them to achieve more in the Authorship industry.
“Authorship is a business and the writers need to benefit from their work but it has not been the case because of lack of proper marketing,” Thewo said.
Mr Thewo has since encouraged writers across the country to advertise and market their books even before they are published.
