The Bank of Zambia has cautioned the Business Community in the Country to ensure that they give the correct change to customers.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Money FM News in Lusaka, Bank of Zambia Public Relations Manager Kanguya Mayondi says it is not right for the business community to give inappropriate charge to customers.
Mr. Mayondi says customers in the country both local and foreigners are entitled to appropriate change despite the denomination.
He adds that all the denominations of money in the country are legal tender, adding that none of the denominations of money in the country have been demonetized.
Mr. Mayondi has advised the business community to ensure that they collect enough change in small denominations from Commercial Banks so they do not inconvenience their customers.
Mr Mayondi’s comment comes follows reports of failure by some supermarkets in Lusaka not to provide appropriate change to customers in small denominations such as ten ngwee’s.
