The Center for Trade Policy and Development notes that Zambia is struggling to actualize investment pledges from investors.
CTPD Executive Director Isaac Mwaipopo says the investment forums and expos are a good initiative as they open up investment opportunities of the provinces.
Mr. Mwaipopo says these initiatives are proving to be strategic in attracting direct investment into the country.
He says these forums and expos are also a solution to the actualization of the economic diversification agenda which the country has embarked on.
“The investment forums and expos are a solution to the diversification agenda. But what we need to do as a country is to see how much we are able to actualize from these events,” he said.
“For example in Central Province, we have had investors who have pledged to recapitalize the Mulungushi Textiles in Kabwe. We need to be actualizing these pledges for us to see the benefits of investments.”
Mr. Mwaipopo said Zambia needs to do an in-depth analysis and introspection to actualize the investment pledges.
He also said the next province that the Government should consider to hold the investment forum and expo is Southern Province due to its investment potential in many sectors of the economy.
The CTPD Executive Director said this when he featured on Money FM Business Radio’s Policy, Power and Money Programme that airs every Mondays and Thursdays at 9hrs.
