Bwana Mukubwa Member of Parliament reiterated calls for urgent termination of Triple V contract.

Bwana Mukubwa Member of Parliament has reiterated calls for the urgent termination of contract for the contractor engaged to construct Mushili Market in Ndola.

Jonas Chanda said marketeers have been conducting business in unhygienic conditions and are getting soaked in the rain because Triple V the contractor working on the project has failed to complete the works on time.

“Triple V the contractor has totally failed to perform at Mushili Market, our marketeers have suffered for six years as they have been trading in the rain and unhygienic conditions,” Mr. Chanda said.
Mr. Chanda said the Market construction by Triple V has taken too long without completion and the quality of works done so far by is below the expected standard.
He stated that the contract should be awarded to a more serious and cost-efficient local contractor, or be given to Zambia Army or Zambia National Service.
“If you look at the cost of the market K15 million it is too expensive, 10 times the cost of Chifubu market which was constructed by Zambia Army at a cost of K1.4 million,” he said.

“I am grateful that the Permanent Secretary understands the sufferings of the people of Mushili and agrees with my proposal to have Triple V contract terminated on the basis that they are way out of contract time,” Mr. Chanda stated.
Mr. Chanda was speaking in Ndola when Local Government Permanent Secretary Bishop Edward Chomba visited the market to appreciate the challenges traders are facing.
