Cross Boarder cry foul over ban on pure honey

The Cross Border Traders Association (CBTA) has appealed to the Zambian government to engage the South African Authorities over the ban that was imposed on the export of Zambian pure honey to South Africa.

CBTA Executive Director Jacob Makambwe says the move by South Africa compromises the assurance by South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa of the country’s willingness to do business with Zambia.

Mr. Makambwe also says the ban is not good for the Tripartite Free Trade Area that most countries are trying to achieve.

He says the manner the South African authorities handled the matter is not right.

Mr. Makambwe is also of the view that the ban was done outside procedures and trade regulations.
South Africa has restricted market access for Zambia’s pure honey with immediate effect.
