An Economic Analyst says the recently launched Sustainable Development Goals Center in the country is a good initiative that will bring to attention the importance of sustainable development goals at national level.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Dr Charity Musamba says the center will provide guidance, focus and priorities on development and the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals.
She has since urged government to use the Centre of the enrichment of domestic processes by encouraging academic thick tanks to partner with the Center and promote local researches.
The SDG Sub-Regional Centre is an international not-for-profit institution which once launched, which will provide technical support, neutral advice and expertise to national governments, private sector, civil society and academic institutions in order to accelerate the implementation of the SDG agenda.
The sub-regional Centre will assist Southern African Countries to start unlocking bottlenecks that hinder smooth implementation of the SDGs and help achieve the goals.
The launch, which was a one-day event brought together over 200 government officials, international organizations, development financing institutions, statistics institutions and experts from southern Africa and beyond, to discuss the major themes relevant to SDG implementation in Africa with focus on the sub-region.
