Zambia is among top eight countries prioritized for Chinese investment in local manufacturing of pharmaceuticals .
And Fosun Pharma, a leading Chinese Pharmaceutical firm has donated K 2.4 Million worth of Malaria drugs to the Zambian government to enhance the combat against Malaria.
Health Minister Dr. Chitalu Chilufya has demonstrated the progress Zambia has made towards her transformational agenda in health at the Pre Forum on China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) meeting that is taking place in Beijing, China.
Addressing the high level meeting, the Health Minister also took time to highlight the areas that Zambia and China could possibly collaborate in, in the field of health.
He states that the Zambian government has placed high premium on the health of its citizens focusing on building robust health systems resilient enough to deliver universal health coverage using an integrated primary health care approach.
And Dr. Chilufya has announced that Zambia had started integrating health in all policies to address all social determinants of health.
The high level meeting on China Africa Health Cooperation has been organised by the National Health Commission of China with support from UNAIDS and WHO and is being held from the 16th to the 21st of August 2018 and will feed into the Heads of state summit on the Forum on China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
And Zambia and China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which will see the two countries enhance collaboration in Malaria elimination.
The two countries are also considering wider collaboration in infrastructure and medical equipment, human capital development, E Health, Solar power for health as well as Pharmaceutical production among others.
