ZESCO disconnects power at Kabulonga Boys School

Power has been disconnected at Kabulonga Boys Secondary School to pave way for meter separation between school and learners’ hostels which are occupied illegally by teachers.

Ministry of General Education Spokesperson Nondo Chilongo says due to the austerity measures announced by the government, the ministry is cautious of its expenditure.

Ms Chilongo says one of such include the unnecessary ZESCO bills incurred as a result of subsidizing huge ZESCO bills for occupants at Kabulonga Boys Secondary School.

She has disclosed that the National Science Center will also clear the electricity bills accumulated to K217, 000 and will meet meter separation costs.

On Thursday, ZESCO cut power to Kabulonga Boys Secondary School and over 70 households enjoyed free or subsidized electricity with a mere contribution of K300 each from very few users until January 2018.
