The Ministry of General Education, through the Ministry of Finance, has obtained a 60 million dollar loan from the World Bank to implement the Zambia Education Enhancement Project (ZEEP).
And today the Minister of General Education, David Mabumba, launched the Zambia Education Enhancement Project (ZEEP) in Muchinga Province.
Mr. Mabumba says the Project is aimed at improving quality education and improving access to secondary schools.
Mr. Mabumba says the project is expected to improve learner achievement levels, support provision of teaching and learning materials, support capacity building in pedagogical skills for teachers and increase access at secondary school level.
He says the Project is expected to achieve this by upgrading of 82 Primary into Secondary Schools by building infrastructure for Secondary school next to the primary schools in 7 Provinces; training teachers in Science and Mathematics in targeted Primary and Secondary Schools ; and reforming textbook procurement.
The launch was characterized by ground breaking and tree planting ceremony at Musanya School in Chinsali District where one of the ZEEP Project schools will be constructed.
Muchinga Districts will have 13 schools constructed under the ZEEP.
