The Civic Forum for Housing and Habitat CFHH Says the ministry of lands should have land Banks in every District in the country.
CFHH Executive Director Grace M’tonga says government needs to consider population growth and ensure adequate human habitation to mitigate the current housing deficit in the country.
She says government should know the structures that will be required in future for city expansion according to the growth of the population.
The Executive Director says the government should have a plan for people to be able to access hospitals, cemeteries and roads among others.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Mrs M’tonga says the deficit currently stands at about 1.5 million, but the accurate figures will only be known after the 2020 census.
She has attributed the deficit to the cost of Land which says is too high considering the average income of Zambians and the difficulties in accessing finances.
