The Basic Educators Teachers Union of Zambia (BETUZ) has called for a research-oriented education system in order for the country to provide an education that meets the demands of the generation.
Union spokesperson Kabika Kakunta says new trends in society such as social media need to be incorporated into the system in order to appeal to the learners.
Mr. Kakunta says issues that cannot be ignored should be used as a tool in order for people to learn how to use them responsibly as opposed to having people learn them in other places.
He says in an interview with Money FM News that schools need to take an initiative to talk about new issues in order for the country’s education system to meet the demands of society.
The Union spokesperson says education experts therefore need to ensure that this generation is provided with education that is necessary to them and not stick to the old system.
