Investment expo organizers asked to understand environmental, mines laws

Citizens Environmental and Social Concern (CESCo) has urged Provincial administration and other stakeholders in provinces expected to hold investment expos to adhere to the laid down environmental standards.

Central Province is next month expected to hold an investment expo that will run from 8th to 13th at Mulungushi University while the one in Norther Province will be held later in November.

CESCo Executive Director Conwell Hakapya tells Money FM News that there is need for stakeholders to make sure they fully acquaint themselves with the Environmental legislation such as the Environmental Management Act No. 12 of 2011 (EMA) and the Mines and Minerals Development Act of 2015.

“As Central and Northern provinces advance in their preparations for their historic and much anticipated Tourism and Investment Expo, we would like to urge the Provincial Administration and their stakeholders in these two mineral rich provinces with unmatched cultural and national heritage, to make sure they fully acquaint themselves with the Environmental legislation,” he said.

Mr. Hakapya says when government departments acquaint themselves with these pieces of legislation, they will be able to advice the prospecting Investors during their Tourism and Investment Expo.

He believes that it is of cardinal importance that these Prospecting Investors are encouraged to bring Environmentally friendly technology when they come to set up their businesses in the country.
