KCCI says cases of gassing will have devastating effects on the national economy.

Kabwe Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI)  says acts of violence by members of the public is arising from cases of the chemical spraying and rumors of ritual killings will have devastating effects on the national economy and the region as a whole.

In a statement to Money FM News, Chamber President Christabel Ngongola has since called for more vigilant action from law enforcement wings with a clear action plan to address this unfortunate issue.

“KCCI is aware that the acts of violence by members of the public is arising from cases of the chemical spraying and rumors of ritual killings which we believe has to be thoroughly investigated and strong action taken against anyone found guilty” She said.
Ms Ngongola said the nature of some of the businesses in operation around Kabwe Town, is such that employees leave work after working hours hence it is imperative in this critical time to have the presence of law enforcement wings around the town.

She has since urged business communities in Kabwe town to ensure safety for their employees working late by providing them with employee identity cards and where possible are dropped home.
Ms Ngongola has also called upon the government, local governments and law enforcement wings to address the security issues openly and repeatedly in order to educate the public on how to deal with these issues without taking matters into their own hands.

“KCCI is calling for more vigilant action from law enforcement wings with a clear action plan to address this unfortunate issue” She said.
She adds that the Chamber is deeply saddened by the death of its member and prominent local Businessman, Mr. Francis Kapembwa., 69, who met his untimely death in Luano District of Central Province at the hands of a mob who mistook him for a chemical gasser.
“His death, and other reported maiming’s and loss of life at the hands of instant justice mobs in the recent past is absolutely tragic and unacceptable and requires immediate attention by the governing authorities” She lamented.
