Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth says the Late Dr. David Kenneth Kaunda worked tirelessly for the good of Zambians during and after his Presidency.

In a statement issued to Money FM News by British High Commission in Lusaka, Queen Elizabeth said in a message of condolences to President Edgar Lungu that Dr. Kaunda’s regional leadership in maintaining Zambia as a bastion against apartheid has sent him a place in history.

Queen Elizabeth who said she was greatly saddened to receive news of the death of Zambia’s founding Father, notes she will always remember their meetings and warmth that Dr. Kaunda felt for the Commonwealth.

“I was greatly saddened to receive news of the death of Kenneth Kaunda. During and after his presidency, he worked tirelessly for the good of the Zambian people. His regional leadership in maintaining Zambia as a bastion against Apartheid has earned him a place in history. I will always remember our meetings, and the warmth that Dr. Kaunda felt for the Commonwealth. I send you and the Zambian people my condolences in this great loss.” wrote The Queen.

Further, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Foreign secretary Dominic Raab have also expressed their condolences and sadness at the passing on of His Excellence Dr. Kenneth Kaunda.

According to the British High Commissioner in Lusaka, Her Britannic Majesty the Queen’s Government and the United Kingdom will be represented by Minister of State for Africa James Duddridge MP at the State Funeral on 2nd July 2021 accompanied by British High Commissioner to Zambia, His Excellency Nicholas Woolley.
