Mambwe Town Council to spend over K44 Million in 2023

• The budget estimates for 2023 have slightly increased by 18.5%
• Council also proposes a budgetary allocation of K1, 846,224 on Integrated Development Planning.
• Budget will be financed through various locally sourced revenue

Mambwe Town Council says it will spend a total of K44, 951,699 for the 2023 Budget.
Council Public Relations Officer Grace Lungu revealed to Money FM News that the budget estimates for 2023 have slightly increased by 18.5% compared to the 2022 budget which stands at K37, 945,700.
Ms. Lungu explained that the Council has also proposed a budgetary allocation of K1, 846,224 on Integrated Development Planning which comprises spatial and social economic planning as well as coordinating the orderly development of the district among others.
She stated that a proposed total of K1, 11,938 has been allocated towards Public Health and Environmental Protection, which will see the successful implementation of programs.
Meanwhile, Ms. Lungu added that the council has projected to spend K60, 270.00 on Economic and Business Development in 2023, which will cover among other things the installation of a bill board depicting its tourism potentials the district location in relation to other districts.
“The Budget will be financed through various locally sourced revenue, the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) and National Support such as the Local Government Equalization Funds, to be spent on ten critical programs,” Ms. Lungu said.
She added that a budgetary allocation of K28.3 million is expected to be spent on various programs under CDF with the skills development and secondary bursaries components covering K5,383,908.78 of the allocation, youth and women empowerment grants to cover K5,383,908.78, the Community projects components and disasters have been allocated K16, 156,726.34 and K807,586.32 respectively.
“Local Governance, which includes the payment of salaries and all allowances for Councilors, has a proposed allocation of K1, 492, 647,”she added.
And Ms. Lungu disclosed that housing and community amenities has budgetary allocation of K1,271,694 and among the programs to be implemented under this is the rehabilitation of council houses as well as drainage and township road maintenance, while Recreation, Culture and Religion has been allocated a total amount of k244,468, and a total of K180,641.
