MTN keen to grow mobile money services

MTN Zambia Ltd is targeting to grow its mobile money services by having over 4, 000 mobile money booths across the country.

Currently, the mobile service provider has about 3, 500 booths doted across the country.

MTN Head of Customer Experience Matilda Chiwi, says MTN has created over 4, 000 jobs from the Mobile Money Booths and the 57 connect stores that are owned by the partners.

She was speaking on the sidelines of the MTN Year of the customer breakfast meeting in Lusaka today.
Meanwhile, MTN Zambia has announced that it is rolling out its network to villages that do not have mobile service network.

MTN Zambia Chief Executive Officer Charles Molapisi says the move comes as a result of the challenges that the people in far flung areas have been experiencing.

The company says it is working on 300 tower sites in 5 months starting next month.
And Government has Commended the Mobile service provider for showing commitment to invest in rural areas recognizing that rural people are marginalized.

Transport and communications Permanent Secretary Engineer Misheck Lungu has stressed the importance of Ensuring that no one is left behind as information communication technology develop.

And speaking earlier MTN Vice President for Southern East Africa and Ghana Region Ebenezer Ansate says MTN has increased growth on the network, thereby, contributing to significant growth in data revenues.

Mr. Ansate says MTN remains true to its core values of bringing relevant products and services closer to customers and focusing on improving customer satisfaction.
