Northern Province Minister Brian Mundubile is optimistic that the hosting of an Investment and Tourism Exposition this November will change the economic landscape of the region.
Mr. Mundubile, who is also Mporokoso area Member of Parliament, says the expo which will run from 20th to 24th November will focus is on attracting investment in the province’s major growth sector namely, agriculture, tourism, energy, mining and port services.
He has explained that the promotion of the four sectors is in line with the Seventh National Development Plan through which government seeks to create a resilient and diversified economy.
Mr. Mundubile says the provincial administration has since stepped up activities and programmes that will help to woo investors in key sectors.
The Provincial Minister says the economic potential in agriculture and tourism has the capacity to boost industrialization and thereby by reduce poverty levels in the province.
Mr. Mundubile adds that the Province has for a long time boasted of having huge economic potential which needs to be actualized.
He has disclosed that under tourism, the region has a distinct feature in the name of Mbala town previously known as Abercon where the First World War ended on 25th November, 1918.
The Expo will be held on the side-lines of the centenary commemorations to mark the end of the First World War whose climax will take place on 25th November, 2018 in Mbala district.
