Smart Zambia says about 153, 000 farmers across the country have deposited their contributions in various banks towards the Farmer Input Support Program (FISP).
Smart Zambia National Coordinator Dr. Martin Mtonga has told Money FM News in an interview that that the contributions have been done in a space of one week from the time the contribution period was opened.
Dr Mtonga says government targets to supply farming inputs to about hundred million farmers under the farmers input supply program.
He says all the e-voucher cards for the farmers are already activated, adding that farmers will be able to collect their farming inputs using a new method known as cardless redeeming method.
He says the cardless redeeming method will allow farmers to redeem their money with the use of the national registration card.
Dr Mtonga says government has decided to introduce a cardless method for collecting farming inputs under the FISP program because most farmers were forgetting their PIN numbers a situation that was retrogressive.
He says the farmers are aware about the development as district agriculture coordinators are carrying out sensitization programs at district levels.
